Evolution Woodworks is a one man woodworking shop located in Glen Allen, VA. We specialize in hand made items from cutting boards to furniture and more.

About Me

I started seriously working with wood as a necessity to remodel my first home. My Dad had a woodworking shop and my uncle was a professional carpenter but I didn't take much interest in it early on. Other than building the occasional skateboard ramp I was too busy running, riding and skating to spend any time in the shop.

With the purchase of my first home I started collecting tools as I remodeled the house and soon had my own woodworking shop in the basement. I built a few cabinets and found I was actually pretty good at it and that it forced me to focus my normal hyperactive energy into hyper focus on getting every joint perfect and getting the finish just right.

After leaving my engineering career I started a remodeling and cabinet company and built kitchen and bathroom cabinets for almost ten years. Stepping away from that due to burn out I all but quit woodworking for several years but then was drawn back to it again though in a slightly different direction.

I decided not focus on cabinets this time and instead would focus on more artistic endeavors. Believe it or not in 25+ years I had never built a cutting board so I started there. Coming up with new patterns and designs was a great way to express my more artistic side while still requiring great attention to detail.

I grew up watching shows like "The New Yankee Workshop" and the "the Woodright's Shop" and I hope to teach and inspire others the way those shows did for me. On the site as well as YouTube you'll find plans, tutorials and videos to help you learn and build projects of your own.
