Exploring New Styles - Building A Modern Console Stereo In Miniature

Over the years I've built a lot of furniture and cabinets and most of them have been Shaker or Mission inspired pieces. Lately I've been wanting to explore new styles and have been drawn to the Mid-Century Modern style in particular.

I have also had this Bluetooth stereo kit laying on the shelf for over a year now so I decided it was time to use it. I came up with this design as a way to test the waters so to speak. I could build a project in the Modern style but do it on a smaller scale.

I think it turned out pretty well in my own biased opinion. The contrasting wood colors and small brass accents really add to the style and it helped me start to think in a different way for my designs. I think there will be more, full sized, projects coming in the Modern style. Stay tuned for that and check out the full build video linked below.
